John McCain spoke to the NAACP yesterday and told them and some skeptical black voters that he will expand education opportunities, partly through vouchers for some low-income children to attend private school.

Barack Obama warned yesterday about the danger of “fighting the last war” as he pledged to focus on emerging nuclear, biological, and cyber threats if elected president. He pledged to secure all loose nuclear material and rid the world of nuclear weapons.

President Bush invoked executive privilege to keep congress from seeing the F.B.I. report of an interview with Vice President Dick Cheney and other records related to the administration’s lead of C.I.A. operative Valerie Plame’s identity in 2003.

Fox News has confirmed that the Rev. Jesse Jackson used the n-word during a break in a tv interview in which he criticized Barack Obama. Fox news says it has no plans to air that portion of the tape.

President Bush and Congress have both received record low approval ratings in the latest A.P/Ipsos poll. 28% say they approve of the job bush is doing and 18% say they were happy with congress.
