Russian President Dmitry Medvedev announced this morning that he has ordered an end to military operations against Georgia. The announcement came minutes before French president Nicolas Sarkozy was to land in Moscow to meet with Medvedev to negotiate terms for a possible cease fire.

Hillary Clinton’s one-time chief strategist Mark Penn wanted to attack Barack Obama for lacking “American Roots” during the Dem primary battle, referring to his boyhood in Indonesia and Hawaii, according to an article published in “The Atlantic” yesterday.

Former Hillary Clinton communications director Howard Wolfson said yesterday that he believes Hillary Clinton would be the Dem presidential nominee if John Edwards had been caught in his lie about an extramarital affair and forced out of the race last year.

The Bush administration wants to weaken the endangered species act by allowing federal agencies to decide for themselves whether highways, dams, mines, and other construction projects might harm endangered animals and plants.
