Sarah Palin charged the state of Alaska for her children to travel with her, including to events where they were not invited, and later amended the expense reports to specify that they were on official business. In all, Palin has charged the state $21,012 for her three daughters’ 64 one-way and 12 roundtrip flights and has also charged the state for hotel rooms for the girls.

Barack Obama has his largest lead so far over rival John McCain, according to CNN’s latest national poll of polls. Obama leads McCain by 9 points – 51% to 42% – in the poll released yesterday. 7% are still unsure about their choice for president.

The website of the Ohio Secretary of State was back up and running yesterday, a day after officials pulled the site partially offline when it was hacked by unknown outsiders. Secretary of state Jennifer Bruner told CNN that “fortunately” no sensitive material was breached in the incident.

Officials in early voting states are reporting record turnout with Election Day less than two weeks away. The numbers indicate a record percentage of voters could participate in the presidential election, voting experts say.
