Lead Franken recount attorney Marc Elias is tentatively scheduled to call in at 7:06am to discuss the legalities surrounding Al Franken’s senate win in Minnesota, and what a Coleman court challenge means.

CNN’s Chief Business Correspondent Ali Velshi calls in at 8:30am to talk about his new book, “Gimme My Money Back,: Your Guide to Beating the Financial Crisis,” and what people can do now that they’ve lost big chunks of their nest eggs.

The Minnesota State Canvassing Board yesterday certified the results of the recount of GOP Sen. Norm Coleman’s fight to retain his seat against Franken. The results showed Franken with a 225-vote lead. “I am proud to stand before you as the next senator from Minnesota,” Franken told reporters last night.

Leon Panetta, chief of staff in Bill Clinton’s White House, will be President-elect Barack Obama’s choice to be CIA director, according to Dem officials. Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), who will be the new chairwoman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said she had not been told in advance of Panetta’s selection and expressed concern that Panetta has no intelligence experience.

President-elect Obama launched his campaign yesterday for a massive package of tax cuts and spending proposals aimed at reviving an economy mired in recession. Obama met with congressional leaders from both parties and is also planning to deliver a major speech on the economy on Thursday.

Secretary of the Senate Nancy Erickson has rejected Roland Burris’ appointment to the Senate because his certificate of appointment was missing the signature of Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White.

  2. Surveillance is in high gear tracking white supremacy groups whose members might seek to harm President Obama.

    For that reason, his transition team has announced they will conduct “selective waterboarding” to protect Mr. Obama.

    They are reported to be drawing their techniques from Alberto Gonzalez’ personal documents which they have under review pursuant to his indictment by them.
