President Obama will travel to Capitol Hill today to make good on his promise to hear from GOPers as he pushes for swift passage and bipartisan backing of his massive $825 billion plan intended to jerk the country out of recession. “The goal is to seek Republican’s input. He wants to hear their ideas,” said Obama’s press secretary Robert Gibbs.

President Obama today chose an Arabic satellite TV network for his first formal television interview as president, delivering a message to the Muslim world that “Americans are not your enemy. The interview underscored Obama’s commitment to repair relations with the Muslim world.

Despite accusations by GOPers that he was not entirely forthcoming about back taxes, and opposition even from some Dems, Timothy Geithner was confirmed yesterday as treasury secretary by a 60 to 34 vote in the U.S. Senate, and immediately began overseeing the second half of the $700 billion Wall Street bailout.

Continuing efforts to overturn more of the last administration’s policies, President Obama signed a presidential memorandum yesterday requesting the Environmental Protection Agency consider approving a waiver that will allow 14 states to set their own stricter auto emissions and fuel efficiency standards.
